Thank you so much for reading and sharing your thoughts, Susan. I'm glad you can see my point, and you're absolutely right. In so many public arenas - whether it's health, education, the justice system, etc - we fail to consider holistic avenues to solve problems many of the time. When we consider the interrelated nature of various factors that lead to a situation, we can get to the bottom of the problem much faster and more efficiently.

Thanks again for reading and I love to hear different perspectives. In this case, that you have been able to apply this 'holistic' philosophy to other areas of life and social issues. I definitely didn't think about it that way, but now I see that it's so true!

Great post, Akhila! I fully believe in holistics in regards to medicine, but can see with this post what it can do in regards to other avenues. In life, in general, too often we look at one part of something and try to find a solution for just that, when there's so much more to the problem. Look at a person in the court system in the example that was mentioned -- what has led them to this situation? Rarely is there just one variable. As far as any type of advocacy -- it's not just the solution that we have to find, but the cause. And it's not just one cause, but a variety of factors.

I think too often, we forget to look at the whole picture -- when it comes to medicine, advocacy, people, or just...life. Glad to see people are beginning to take this approach. Maybe now we can see wherein that change lies, how far we've come..and how far we've yet to go. Great post!
