Welcome!
Welcome to my portfolio! I'm Akhila Kolisetty, a recent graduate from Northwestern University, where I double majored in Political Science and Economics, and wrote a senior Political Science honors thesis on the impact of international justice on reconciliation in Sierra Leone and Rwanda. I studied abroad for a full year at the London School of Economics (LSE), where I took classes in Government, Economics, and Economic History.
I am passionate about human rights and civil rights issues, and I am committed to using the law as a tool for social change. I want to fight for the rights of indigent individuals and hope to ultimately be a lawyer, leader, advocate, policymaker, and academic focusing on ensuring that the poor - in the U.S. and abroad - are provided with competent legal representation.
In the past, I've worked for non-profits on issues such as international human rights, death penalty, criminal justice reform and access to justice. I was the Co-President of Amnesty International's chapter at Northwestern and while at LSE, helped start a student microfinance consulting non-profit called the Student Microfinance Development Initiative. I have studied human rights and civil liberties issues in the classroom, and I hope to attend law school after two years to become a better advocate for the poor and marginalized.
